United Mutation II

And yet another from the Lost & Found vaults. ( What a great label!) In 1991 they released a 7'' from United Mutation titled Gotterdammerung. It features five songs from a live show recorded at the East Side Club in 1987. The last two songs are from a demo recorded in 1982.

Dove

Back in 1992 Lost & Found Records released a CD from Dove titled Wrecking Ball. I don't know exactly when these tracks were recorded, but I would imagine it was around the same time the Bouncing Babies track was recorded. As I mentioned before, the band features the singer for both Red C & Double O, Eric Lagdameo. Also featured is Peter Moffett, who had a brief stint with Government Issue in 1987-88. Vigilante is the best track here hands down. A little metal, but still a thrasher! The rest of the album is hit & miss. Mostly miss. Enjoy!

Beaver

I had never heard of Beaver prior to listening to the Bouncing Babies compilation. The same can be said about Reptile House, The Last Minute, Braille Party, & Dove. Reptile House was of course my first post, so you can find all their material here. The others will pop up in future posts. Now as for Beaver, they released their self titled seven inch in 1981 on Choice Cut Records. Nothing outstanding or fantastic. More for your hardcore D.C. fanatic like myself. "Punch Him In The Head" is the strongest track here, although the comp. version is still better. To my knowledge they consisted of Government Issue minus John Stabb. (I could be wrong here, fill me in.) Like em' or not, they're still D.C. history. Enjoy!

Bouncing Babies

Fountain of Youth released the Bouncing Babies compilation in 1984. It featured bands from both the D.C. & Baltimore areas. A very wide variety of sound which really captures the scene as a whole.Punk, hardcore, psych, ska, & everything in between. My top pick has to be Reptile House. Talons & Claws is their best song next Sleekstak Weather off their e.p. Take a listen to them all and decide your favorite. Enjoy!

Malefice II

Soon after their Overboard 7'', Malefice went back to Inner Ear to record what would be their first full length. There were two sessions between late '84 early '85. Nothing ever got released until sometime around 1990 when Lost And Found released the Lotus Blossom LP. Their original drummer, Davis White, was only with them to record Sea Level. United Mutation drummer Billy Fox stepped in to record both Acid Death & Bloody Insane while John Richman recorded the remainder of the album. I think the two with Billy Fox are the best, but that's just me. Enjoy!

Media Disease

Here's another early D.C. band by the name of Media Disease. Their only official release were several tracks of the Mixed Nuts Don't Crack compilation which you can pick up over at Maikoholic. Back in 1990, Lost and Found put out their Hit & Run 2x7''. It has an entire session recorded at Hit & Run Studios 6/12/82. The tracks from the comp. are included seeing as they were taken from this very same session. A while back I read somewhere that members of Media Disease would go on to form Malefice. Not sure if this is true or not, but maybe someone can confirm? By the way, here's to my 50th post! It's about damn time. I'm way too slow with this shit. But then again, I do have a life. Enjoy!
